Íslandshótel received the prestigious Jafnvægisvogin (Gender Equality Balance Scale Award). During a celebratory awards ceremony, Ásta Dís Ólafsdóttir, professor at the University of Iceland and chairman of Jafnvægisvogin, presented the recognition to the recipients, acknowledging their efforts towards gender equality and balanced leadership.

Íslandshótel is proud to be the first Icelandic hotel chain to achieve full Green Key certification across all 17 of its hotels. This prestigious, internationally recognized certification has promoted sustainable practices in over 60 countries for more than 25 years. It marks a turning point for both the company and the Icelandic tourism industry.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization has officially approved Íslandshotel’s signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism.

On 19th of January 2022, Íslandshótel hf. signed a contract with Vottunarstofan Tún ehf. For the Green Key certification for all the hotel properties of the hotel chain and with Klappir Grænar Lausnir hf. to keep track of sustainability measures of the Íslandshótel group.

Íslandshótel received an award for education from the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise 2021 for their strategic and targeted educational and training program for their employees.
